BMC now accepting applications for '12-'13 school year
Schools

The Berkeley County Middle College High School (BMC) is currently accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year.  The college, located on the Berkeley campus of Trident Technical College, offers eleventh- and twelfth-grade students an opportunity to complete high school and college course work in a non-traditional learning environment.

It is the only program of its kind in the Lowcountry.

The BMC offers high school credit courses in both virtual and traditional formats.  Qualified students may enroll in dual credit courses. College course tuition and books are provided at no charge, if requirements are met.  Students must provide their own transportation.  They may participate in athletic activities at their zoned high schools with good academic standing.

The program is open to all rising juniors and seniors in the Berkeley County School District.  Fifty juniors and up to twenty seniors will be accepted into next year’s program.  Candidates will be considered on the basis of the application, academic records, discipline records, attendance records, COMPASS scores and references (maximum of two).  Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule a personal interview.  All applicants will be notified by mail or email of acceptance or non-acceptance into the program.

Interested applicants can learn about program offerings, requirements and the application process at www.berkeley.k12.sc.us/BerkeleyCollege.cfm.  Applications are available via download, or by contacting the school.

Completed applications must be received by no later than Feb. 15. For information, contact Claire Freeman, principal at 843-899-8111.
