WWE wrestlers hold anti-bullying rally at elementary school | News
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Two World Wrestling Entertainment superstars made an appearance at an anti-bullying rally at a North Charleston elementary school Tuesday.
David Otunga and Natalya, of the WWE, delivered anti-bullying messages through discussion and sharing of personal experience to fourth and fifth-grade students at Mary Ford Elementary School, off Cosgrove Avenue.
The rally is a result of a partnership between the "Be a STAR" alliance and "Communities in Schools" of the Charleston area.
Be a Star alliance provides students, teachers and parents with various tools and resources to help put an end to bullying. It promotes positive methods of social interaction and encourages people to treat others as equals and with respect.
Communities in Schools provides a nationally acclaimed dropout prevention program to more than 10,700 students in 23 Charleston and Berkeley County schools. During the 2011-12 school year, CIS provided intense services to almost 1,100 children.
Of those students, 93 percent of seniors graduated and 96 percent of students were promoted to the next grade.
