$50k bond for trucker involved in fatal wreck | News
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- A judge set bond at $50,000 during bond court Tuesday for the driver of the tractor-trailer involved in Monday's fatal accident with a motorcyclist on Remount Road .
Lewis Hunter Jr., 47, of Sylvania, Georgia, is charged with reckless homicide after North Charleston Police Department officers say he pulled out in front of 44-year-old Scott Arrington, of Goose Creek, causing a collision near Virginia Avenue that critically injured the motorcyclist.
Arrington died shortly thereafter at the hospital.
Police said Arrington was wearing a helmet during the crash around 7:30 a.m.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years behind bars, a fine between $1,000 and $5,000, and a suspension of his license up to 5 years.
Friends of Arrington said he was a member of the Warhorse Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. They said he was very active in the club, getting together with other brothers for rides often.
"He always wore his helmet. He always stayed safe. Now I'm thinking about getting one," said Tommy Smith, friend of Arrington.
Brothers of the motorcycle club said they are planning on having an event to help Arrington's family in the future, but right now they are focused on helping his family through this tough time.
"He was a big family man. He left behind a big family. We just want to help them get through this," said Mark Bootle.
